Best Home Fragrance: Why I Choose RANNI Candles

Home Fragrance Candles | house of RANNI

The Quick Burn | TL;DR

  • The best home fragrance should actually make your home smell good, not just look pretty on a shelf.
  • I formulate RANNI candles with a high fragrance load for a strong scent experience and lasting fragrance.
  • I use coconut-soy wax and fragrance oils, hand pouring every candle in small batches in Los Angeles.
  • RANNI combines fragrance with a bigger purpose: South Asian and LGBTQIA+ ownership, independent making, and giving back.

What makes the best home fragrance?

I think the best home fragrance has one very simple job: make your home smell good.

Sounds obvious, but there is a difference between a candle that looks beautiful and a fragrance that actually changes the feeling of a room.

When I'm choosing a home scent, I want something I can smell. I want fragrance that has presence, lasts, and makes the room feel different once I light it.

That is the standard I have in mind when I make RANNI.

My candles are designed to be more than something pretty sitting on a coffee table. They're meant to fill your space with fragrance and become part of how your home feels.

1. High fragrance load, because I want my candles to actually smell good

If you're searching for strong scented candles, highly scented candles, or the best home fragrance, fragrance strength probably matters to you.

It matters to me too.

I formulate RANNI candles with a high fragrance load because I want the scent to have a real presence in the room. A candle should not require you to hover over it to appreciate the fragrance.

That is also why I think candles can be such effective room fragrance. You're getting both the atmosphere of a candle and a fragrance experience that can change the feeling of the space.

And if you're looking for long lasting scented candles, the fragrance experience matters throughout the life of the candle, not just during the first few burns.

2. Coconut-soy wax and a clean-burning candle

The wax matters too.

I use coconut-soy wax with fragrance oils to make my candles. I keep the formula intentionally simple, without dyes or unnecessary fillers.

For me, that creates the kind of clean home fragrance experience I want in my own space: a beautifully scented candle that burns cleanly while the fragrance does the work.

If you're comparing different types of home fragrance, I think a candle should be evaluated on more than how good it smells in the jar. How it burns matters too.

3. Hand poured in small batches in Los Angeles

RANNI is an independent candle company, and I hand pour every candle in small batches in Los Angeles.

That matters because I'm personally involved in what I'm making. Each batch is poured, finished, and prepared with the same attention I'd want if I were buying it for my own home.

There is something different about knowing the person behind the product and knowing that your candle wasn't simply another anonymous item rolling off a massive production line.

If you're looking for Los Angeles candles or a Los Angeles candle company, that's a big part of what RANNI is.

4. Home scents with actual personality

The best home scents aren't necessarily the most traditional ones.

I want RANNI fragrances to have personality. Some are warm and aromatic. Some are fresh. Some are fruity. Some are floral. Some are a little darker and more unexpected.

So if you're trying to find the best aroma for your home, I would start with the feeling you want the room to have.

Warm and cozy: Pick Me Up, my chai-inspired fragrance with cardamom and cream.

Rich and mysterious: Saffron Veil, with saffron, leather, vetiver, rose, dark violet, and raspberry.

Fresh and bright: Green Tea Zinger, with a greener, fresher fragrance profile.

Juicy and playful: PomPom, a pomegranate-forward fragrance.

Floral: D.R.E.W., my rose-forward scent.

That is one reason I don't think there is one universal answer to the question of the best home fragrance. The best scent is the one that makes your home feel like your home.

5. A home fragrance brand with a purpose

This is probably the part that matters most to me.

RANNI is a South Asian and LGBTQIA+-owned brand, and those identities are part of how I think about the brand, the fragrances I create, and the community I want to build around it.

I'm interested in duality. Darkness and light. Tradition and irreverence. Culture and queerness existing in the same space.

And I want RANNI to do something beyond selling candles.

A portion of every order goes toward organizations doing meaningful work and supporting communities I care about. So when you choose RANNI for your home fragrance, you're supporting an independent brand that is trying to make an impact beyond the product itself.

For me, that makes the choice feel a little more meaningful.

So, what makes RANNI one of my favorite choices for home fragrance?

For me, it comes down to the whole experience.

Strong fragrance because I want your home to actually smell good.

Long-lasting fragrance because I want the experience to continue beyond the first burn.

Coconut-soy wax and a clean-burning formula because what goes into the candle matters.

Hand poured and small batch because I want to stay close to what I'm making.

Distinctive fragrances because your home should smell like you, not everyone else.

And purpose because I want RANNI to contribute something beyond another product sitting on a shelf.

There are a lot of ways to scent your home. If you're looking for home fragrance, home scents, or a candle that can genuinely change the feeling of a room, I think a RANNI candle is a pretty good place to start.
